The former Chelsea star moved to Anfield in 2010, but failed to make an impact and was loaned out.

The 30-year-old spent last season with French outfit Lille, but with Rodgers' appointment he now looks to have a chance of rebuilding his Liverpool career.

"I know him from my Chelsea days when he was there and I can't see anything other than positive things," said Cole.

"When I heard about Liverpool looking at certain managers, I was praying it was going to be Brendan.

"Not just because he's not an unknown for me, and I know his philosophy on football, but I think the owners have made the right choice for the club - it's been a breath of fresh air.

"A new manager always brings a lift, but the gaffer has come in and really impressed everyone."

Philosophy

Cole is looking forward to seeing Rodgers' footballing philosophy in operation.

"Sometimes in English football people automatically think you need to be aggressive. But look at Spain - no-one works harder than them," he added.

"I firmly believe in that and think it's now the way forward in football. We've seen how successful Spain and Barcelona are.

"The top teams get the ball down and play and move, and that's what we are going to try and implement here.

"But it takes time to change things, and great things take time. It's going to be a building process.

"As long as we stick together and try to do what the manager wants us to do, this club will move steadily forward again."

Cole was included in Liverpool's squad which departed for a pre-season tour of North America on Monday.

Getafe defender Miguel Torres claims he is destined for the Premier League, with a number of clubs reported to be keen on doing a deal.

Blackburn Rovers expressed an interest in the Spanish full-back last summer, but were unable to reach an agreement.

Torres did, however, admit at the time to being a fan of the Premier League, describing English football as 'a paradise for any player'.

West Ham United have joined the chase in 2012, while Queens Park Rangers are also said to be closely monitoring the situation.

It is understood that Getafe would be willing to sanction a sale if a suitable bid is lodged.

Torres believes it is only a matter of time before terms are agreed, with the 26-year-old of the opinion that he will soon be turning out in the English to-flight.

"I believe that my sporting future will be in England," he is quoted as saying.

Chelsea youngster Josh McEachran is determined to make an impact at Stamford Bridge this season following a frustrating loan spell at Swansea last term.

The 19-year-old was hoping to get first-team experience under his belt when he agreed to join the Swans on loan in January.
However, the midfielder started only one Premier League game for Brendan Rodgers' side, making a handful of appearances off the bench.
McEachran has now set his sights on impressing manager Roberto Di Matteo at Chelsea but is not ruling out another stint out on loan.
"I want to play as many games as I can for Chelsea this season," he said. "I'm a Chelsea player and I want to play for Chelsea.
"But if the manager wants to send me out on loan then that's up to him at the end of the day."

Frustration

He added: "Last season was a difficult time for me and I had to deal with a lot of frustration at Swansea.
"The whole reason I went there was to gain more experience of the Premier League but it didn't work out that way.
"The team was playing well at the time and Brendan didn't want to change his side. If they had been struggling then I might have got more games, but that wasn't what happened."
"I didn't know I wasn't going to be playing when I went to Swansea so it could have worked out both ways.
"There are always setbacks and frustrations in football. It's all about how you deal with them."

Oscar: The Brazil international is expected in the UK on Tuesday ahead of the
